The 6C-generation Polo GTI arrived in 2015 as a meaningful evolution of Volkswagen's smallest hot hatch. Most significantly, the previous 1.4-litre twin-charged engine made way for a larger 1.8-litre turbocharged TSI producing 192 PS, while buyers were once again given the option of a proper six-speed manual gearbox. This 2016 example is a manual car and SB is thrilled to be listing it on the platform. Benefitting from the full 320 Nm produced by the 1.8 TSI, Volkswagen quoted 0–62 mph in 6.7 seconds; healthy performance for a compact five-door hatchback that remains equally capable of dealing with the daily commute. The exterior is set off by 17-inch Parabolica alloy wheels, red brake calipers and the GTI's signature red detailing, while the panoramic glass sunroof is a particularly desirable addition. Inside, the traditional tartan GTI sports seats provide a welcome link to Volkswagen's long hot-hatch heritage, complemented by red stitching and the manual GTI gearknob. Smartphone integration with Apple CarPlay brings some useful modern functionality to the cabin, too. The accompanying history file includes Volkswagen main-dealer and subsequent independent maintenance, with invoices documenting servicing as well as expenditure on tyres, brakes and brake fluid. At 96,000 miles, this isn't being presented as a low-mileage collector car; rather, it's an appealing and well-equipped example of an increasingly uncommon formula; a compact, petrol-powered GTI with three pedals that can be used and enjoyed every day.

The Polo GTI has always occupied an appealing position in the hot-hatch hierarchy: more grown-up and understated than some of its rivals, yet with enough performance to make it genuinely entertaining.
