At SB we're always keen to bring something different to the platform and we thought that this particular 2003 Porsche (986) Boxster race car captured that in spades. It is a well known and highly developed example originally built in 2014 for the now defunct BRCC TOYO Boxster Championship, where it enjoyed a successful competition career in the hands of two respected Porsche club racers. During this period, the car secured numerous class victories and achieved championship runner up honours on two separate occasions. Following an accident at Donington Park in 2020, the car was comprehensively rebuilt into its current shell with no expense spared. Since then, it has continued to prove highly competitive within Porsche Club Class 2 competition, recording multiple pole positions and fastest laps. Presented in striking green livery as pictured, the underlying bodyshell remains silver beneath the wrap. The car is based around an early Mk1 986 shell but benefits from the later and more desirable 3 chain 3.2 litre Boxster S engine. More recently, the engine has undergone a comprehensive refresh, including new bearing shells and the fitment of a genuine Porsche X51 baffled sump pan. The engine has only completed running in time since reassembly. Built originally to PCGB Class 2 regulations, the car remains eligible for a wide range of series and events including the CALM All Porsche Trophy, 750 Motor Club and CSCC championships, while also offering huge appeal as a ready to enjoy track day weapon. Equally, the specification lends itself well to adaptation for Boxster Cup or Class 3 competition should the next owner wish to take it in a different direction. Supplied with a full UK V5, the car offers considerably easier transport and movement across UK borders than many circuit only race cars.
